Okay... I'm a rock noob. I admit. But I decided to make this after I was posting about Motorhead just now.
How the hell do you break down rock beyond the category of "rock"? That'sa broad category, howcan you tell what to further label rock songs?
I know when most songs are emo, cause I hate those songs. But wtf is screamo? And I used to think "emo" meant "emotions", since emos are all emotional and stuff in their songs, because they're depressed and talk about self mutilation and crap. But I think someone said it means "emotive"... how the hell does that make sense? "Emotional" makes sense to me, because depression goes with emotions, which is what emo basically is.
Then there's punk. I hate most of that too.
Is My Chemical Romance punk or emo or what?
And I guess Green Day is punk? No matter what category, that's probably why I hate them.
Then there's alternative and I think progressive? What the hell is that? I think Alterbridge is alternative... but why? Creed is too, right?
Then there's metal. On my Xbox 360, I call everything simply "rock", "rap", or "techno" mainly. Because I hate trying to narrow down jjst wtf category each rock song falls under. But I do have "rock/rap"... which is mainly rap songs I mixed onto rock instrumentals.
But Korn is what? Metal or heavy rock?
And I guess Slipknot is metal.
I hate metal, but some is alright. I can't understand the roaring b/s or whatever it is, so I hate it, because how the hell can you sing along if you dunno wtf is being said? But metal is kinda awesome, apart from the vocals.
I think I do understand indie rock, though, because it sounds different. Hell, it sounds like it came from India or something. Boy Hits Car is indie rock. Unless I'm terribly wrong, which won't surprise me much.
I hate all that detailed crap. It should be more simple, but people now-a-days are idiots and there's like 357841285 kinds of rock now. Wtf?
So, yeah... if anyone cares to try to explain this, feel free.......
